Victims of a car scam arrived at the Supreme court today to get back their money.
According to them, they were contacted by an investigator from the Major Organised Crime and Counter -Terrorism Division who advised each person to come to court on September 25 with their receipts.
However, no such plans were in place.
Back in 2018, these men entered into an agreement with the Prisoners For Christ (PFC) Telemarketing for imported cars. They were told to make downpayments ranging from $85, 000 to $100 000. However, the cars were never delivered. The operator of the entity was reported , arrested and subsequently sentenced to 456 years behind bars.
The men say they were advised that the case had ended and they would be recompensed.
They believe that someone is providing wrong information.
However MOCA’s Deputy Superintendent Rohan Reid says the victims would have to seek legal support in order to be recompensed. He says the money that was paid by the victims is now considered as criminal money. Victims will now have to seek legal support to be recompensed.
