Virgin Atlantic Anticipates Servicing Farmers

Virgin Atlantic has resumed flights to Jamaica with two flights per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. This, after the Airline’s future became uncertain due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Airport Manager for Virgin Atlantic in Jamaica, Eaton Hubbard says Jamaica is a very important destination for the Airline, therefore it’s a proud moment. Also, many local farmers may now be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Hubbard adds that the Airline is off to a good start, given the Aviation Industry is still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking of change, farmers who have been experiencing financial hardships due to the crisis, may start to see the light at the end of the tunnel very soon.

Hubbard says “…it is a very important thing for us to provide lift for the farmers. We were always a very popular cargo airline and we always took out lots of perishable cargo and cultural produce to London for farmers in Jamaica…One of the things we’re very happy about is to be back and providing lift for the farmers.”

As it relates to passenger safety, he says the aircraft is a brand new, Boeing 7-8-7, 900 Dream Liner, designed with high-performance hepa filters, capable of filtering viruses.

For the winter season, virgin atlantic  will be operating 3 flights per week.
