Wanted Men Arrested and Illegal Firearms Seized in SOE

Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF’s) Corporate Communications Unit, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay says several wanted men and illegal firearms have already been brought in the police. This as police deployed in States of Emergency, (SOEs) across the island have begun the crackdown on crime.

According to Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, the police have made strides in capturing persons of interest as well as seizing illegal firearms from several areas now under the States of Emergency. She notes that the force have seized four illegal firearms in different parishes.

SSP Lindsay says it is early days yet so an evaluation of the success of the SOE’s may not happen until another week or two, as the first couple of days is really to iron out the logistics on the ground and getting structures organised. The officer says resources are still being put together to facilitate the police tackling crime in the designated areas, she adds that she knows the JCF is currently doing the necessary work to get things going in the areas that are now under SOE.

Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, made the announcement on Sunday, November 14, declaring sections of Kingston and St. Andrew and the western parishes of St. James, Hanover, and Westmoreland as SOE zones.
