Water Tank Installed in York Town

The York Town community in Clarendon is the latest to benefit from the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation’s Water Resilience Initiative. Keynote speaker at the ceremony, Senator Matthew Samuda says the new addition will go a far way for the people of York Town.

Minister without portfolio for Economic Growth and Job Creation Senator Matthew Samuda while speaking at the ceremony for a pumping station in York Town, Clarendon, noted that the drought conditions in Jamaica have become more significant than usual. This while indicating the impact of climate change. He says the government will be providing additional support to various communities that are most impacted. Senator Samuda adds that the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job creation has allocated 50 million Jamaican dollars to assist the National Water Commission (NWC) and municipalities across the island for a six-week period. Noting the decline in rainfall, Samuda recommends consciously practicing water conservation techniques. Noting the challenges in providing water when there’s drought.

Meanwhile, he says a 22-million-dollar pumping station in York Town will be more than adequate for the residents. Watch the report:
