Weise Road Slowly being Covered with Mud Once More

While many homes stand up to the test of the recent showers residents of Weise Road, Bull Bay and other communities say they live in constant fear whenever it rains.

Residents say at this time they believe only a GoFundMe page can help them with fixing the gully that is a constant trouble to them as they believe backs are being turned on them. Residents say they have been promised Gabion baskets to rectify the issue of the water overflowing the river banks and forcing debris into their homes.

An artiste from the community known as Ivoltage says he and a group of men gathered many stones to assist in the community project.

Residents could be seen shoveling mud off their veranda while others have experienced the dejavu of their homes being fully covered with mud once more following October’s catastrophe of the river breaking its course within the community. Residents, however, believe relocating them is not the answer.

With a little over two months left in the hurricane season, resident of Weise Road says they continue to have sleepless nights whenever it rains.

An elder from the community who wished not to be shown on camera could be seen amid the mud pleading for intervention from Prime Minister Andrew Holness. Residents say they are growing weary in asking for help from their political representatives.
