West Central St. Catherine Residents Demand Alternative Route

Residents of at least six communities in West Central, St. Catherine were left in the deep after they were forced to journey through a river bed as an alternative route to get to their destination.

The old bridge was demolished some months ago and a new one is being constructed.

Initially, the West Central residents were using an alternative route which runs through a private property.

However, the owner reportedly blocked the passage, and the residents say it might be stemming from a disagreement.

The pace at which the construction of the bridge is taking place is also worrying those who depend on it, they fear the reconstruction will go way beyond the date set for completion.

The residents say the situation has caused great inconvenience, especially with the amount persons have to pay for taxi fare; which was originally $250 and now costs them up to $600.

The residents are demanding the situation be addressed as multiple communities are being impacted.
