The Member of Parliament for Westmoreland western is calling for lengthier sentences for convicted murderers. Morland Wilson says there needs to be a system that will prevent persons from committing crimes, adding that the parish is in dire need of such an intervention.
The parish recorded 5 murders in the first four days of the New Year. Morland Wilson, the Member of Parliament for western Westmoreland believes 300 years in prison is reasonable punishment for convicted murderers, adding that too many criminals are receiving light sentences. Up to Tuesday, January 4, 2022 Westmoreland had recorded two double murders since the start of 2022; the latest being the shooting death of brothers Dervin and Sheldon jones in Carawina, Petersfield.
Wilson, on Thursday, confirmed the discovery of a decomposing body in Little London. However, calls to the head of the Westmoreland police division to ascertain further details, went unanswered. Meanwhile, the MP tells CVM Live that he’s looking forward to big plans to bolster security in the parish.
