WHO: 29 Countries Have Seen Cholera Outbreaks

Thirteen additional countries have now seen an outbreak of cholera. This brings the total number of countries to 29.  the latest wave of the virus has affected vaccine supplies. The Revelation was made by the Director General of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) media briefing recently.

On the heels of a cholera outbreak in Haiti, the Director General of the WHO, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus revealed, 29 countries to date have had an outbreak of cholera. The WHO boss says since 2013 the organization and other health entities have pooled to provide vaccines to mitigate the virus. While minimizing the supply of vaccines, he provided a solution to eradicate the spread of the virus. Dr. Ghebreyesus says given the latest outbreaks vaccine supplies are at a premium.
