A William Knibb student was killed after being stabbed during a fight on the school grounds. The tragic incident that happened in Trelawny on Monday afternoon, left the school in mourning.
CVM LIVE spoke with the Acting Principal, Audrey Steele who says the fight started over a ring. Steele has noticed that the students have become more aggressive after not being in school for two years. Just Friday, students were suspended for fighting.
In keeping with the school’s no-tolerance policy for violence, two other male students were suspended Monday morning for carrying knives. Principal Steele says the staff has been traumatized by the incidents and is working to provide counseling for staff and students.
People’s National Party (PNP) councillor Phillip Service says this incident is indicative of a societal problem of violence. More details in this report:
