A Portland woman is hoping to inspire success and change among many Jamaicans who have lost loved ones to crime and violence. Her story is one of overcoming grief and trauma after the brutal slaying of her mother for more than a year now. Her indomitable spirit reminds us of the resilience of our people.

This soon-to-be allied health patient care provider recounts her struggles since losing her mom. And despite listing several groups and individuals who have been her rock, she is still moved by the absence of her mother as she counts another victory.
