A local cooking gas supplier is distancing his business from recent allegations that it’s connected with an illegitimate gas refilling entity in St Catherine.
The refilling plant was last week shut down by the police who also seized several items and detained one man.
Local cooking gas supplier, Yaadman Haulage Jamaica Limited, in a statement says it’s aware of recent reports suggesting that a variety of cylinders belonging to several companies, including Yaadman, were discovered by the police at a location in the Christian Pen area of Gregory Park, St. Catherine.
The entity notes that it is distinct bright red cylinders that are easily recognized with the black logo, Yaadman, which offers service to customers across at least nine parishes.
Yaadman says it is however unaware of how its cylinders made their way to Gregory Park.
The company says it has absolutely no part to play in what the police have described as a “suspected illegitimate enterprise” at the location.
Garth Abiola, is the group CEO of Yaadman Haulage Jamaica Limited.
He says the company’s demonstrated for several years, that it is operations are able to withstand the highest levels of scrutiny. He asserts that they’re fully compliant with all government of Jamaica regulations and standards which governing the industry.
Mr Abiola says the company commends the police and welcomes the investigation being pursued. He says the company remains committed to building a solid reputation of supplying Jamaicans with quality cooking gas.
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed there have not been any updates at this time regarding the gas refilling plant in St Catherine. The entity was allegedly operating under the guise of another company, refilling gas cylinders. The company was estimated to value millions.
