The Yallahs High School in St. Thomas is the latest to reopen with at least one case of COVID-19. The confirmed case is a grade 10 student. Principal Mark Malabver says there are concerns for the student’s siblings who also attend the school.
He says the staff at the institution will be undergoing COVID -19 tests.
Meanwhile, the president of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) Jasford Gabriel notes cases were fewer prior to the yuletide season. He however says more patience could have been exercised regarding the resumption of face-to-face learning.
He also says some schools have various complex issues as it relates to detecting the virus.
