22-year-old Gabrielle Powell from Linstead, St. Catherine is holding strain for her siblings she now cares for following the death of their mother earlier this year. Her siblings in her care are a 12-year-old boy, and a six-year-old twin, a boy, and a girl.
CVM Live met the three children in October 2020, sitting outside under their leaking roof trying to stay connected to their neighbour’s wifi to do online classes.
Now having to care for her siblings Gabrielle says things have been increasingly difficult, with financial responsibilities such as rent and other bills piling on top of the struggling family.
She says, they had to leave their home due to severe leaking that made their living conditions even more unbearable especially when it rained.
The family hopes for opportunities that will assist the kids with learning and attending classes and also to have their home renovated to top the added expense of paying rent.
If you would like to assist this family, you may contact Gabrielle Powell at 876-421-6882.
