CVM LIVE spoke with Zhongda Construction’s (ZDA) workers in Portmore, St Catherine on Monday, they voiced their frustration over being paid two- thousand dollars a day for their labour. They say they feel undervalued as the disparity between their wage and their work is too great to ignore.
According to the Labour Management Agreement of the Incorporated Masterbuilders Association of Jamaica (IMAJ), the minimum the laborers should be earning per day is about three thousand, six hundred dollars. The agreement outlines wages that workers should be paid depending on their level of certification. By that measure, a level 3 welder who spoke to CVM LIVE off-camera should be earning roughly $5500 dollars per day. More details here:
