ZOSOs Extended Again, Amendment Delayed

ZOSOs Extended Again and Amendment Delayed – The government’s crime-fighting program, the Zones of Special Operation, ZOSO, has been granted another 60-day extension. However, there is an ongoing effort to amend the operation to establish a more sustainable and long-term plan. Although a joint select committee concluded its review of the act more than three years ago, the Minister acknowledges that there is still progress to be made in implementing the necessary changes.

Unlikely the amendment will be ready within the next two months. This means Parliament will again be tasked with approving at least another extension. Not to be kicked while he’s down though, Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang says despite the numerous instances of shootings and murders in the St James Zones, the operations have aided in crime reductions.
