Education Minister Fayval Williams is encouraging male counterparts who sat the Caribbean Examinations Council’s, CSEC and CAPE papers earlier this year, to remain focused following results that revealed males have outperformed females in several subject areas.
Respective performance in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination, CAPE, included a 100% pass rate in Spanish for males who sat the exam compared to a 96.2% pass rate in females. Minister Williams compared the findings in a special press conference, on Wednesday. She further notes that males achieved higher percentage passes in four CSEC subject areas.
Meanwhile, in addressing concerns over the thirty thousand students who failed to submit their School Based Assessment (SBA) Deputy Director for Overseas Examinations Commission, Sharon Burnett, says there are different factors for such numbers. She however says Caribbean Examinations Council will be giving schools an extended period to re-submit School Based Assessment.
Therefore the initial figures announced by the council for failed submission will be revised downwards significantly. More details here:
