Custos Rotulorum of Manchester Garfield Green is calling for major improvements to be made to the roads and sidewalks in sections of Manchester, as he says it is quite unfortunate that pedestrians are forced to walk through bushes to reach their destinations.
The Custos says there are too many developments in the parish for the roads to be in such a state.
In addition to poor road conditions, Green notes there are several other environmental issues affecting the parish that must be rectified urgently.
The Custos was speaking at the first commemoration for the 1957 Kendal Train Crash, which claimed the lives of one hundred and seventy-one people. As part of the commemorative initiatives, Green is urging the authorities to build a park.
He says the funds garnered from that would assist with fixing some of the issues he condemned. More details here:
