Mangroves Restoration In Clarendon Top Priority For GOJ

In an effort to achieve environmental sustainability, the Jamaican government has partnered with NEPA to restore the mangroves in Southern Clarendon, a known flood-prone area

The move comes during the hurricane season and is expected to help protect the residents.

The government has taken a major step to combat the environmental degradation of areas within Southern Clarendon, as a partnership with the National Environmental Planning Agency leads to the replanting of mangroves.

Residents of Southern Clarendon, which is a known flood-prone area, have been suffering from the destruction of mangroves from the coastlines. The replanting efforts are a nature-based solution to the problem.

He says that will provide economic opportunities for the residents, and will even aid in achieving food security.
