Massive Protest over Delay Wage and Benefits Negotiations

Massive Protest – Over 120 Lands and Agriculture workers employed to UC Rusal Jamaica Limited in Manchester and Unity Valley St. Ann, stopped working this morning. The workers are now staging a massive protest demonstration in front of the company’s Head Office in Kirkvine, Manchester. The workers are protesting over the protracted delay in their wage and fringe benefits negotiations. These negotiations started in May 2018. The last meeting was held on the 24th of October ended in a deadlock The company is proposing a four-year agreement- four percent in year 1 year 2 and
zero percent in year 3 and 4. The Ministry of Labour has called a meeting for 10:30 tomorrow November 4th
to resolve the matter.
