Members Of Senate Pay Tribute To Late Anthony Johnson

Members of the Upper House earlier today paid tribute to late Ambassador, Anthony Johnson.

Ambassador Johnson, father of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, died last week Wednesday at the age of 82. He had been ailing for some time. 

Ambassador Johnson served as a member of the Senate for 17 years.

Ambassador Johnson who died last week Wednesday, was a former Jamaica Labour Party Member of Parliament, a Diplomat, an Economist and a Lecturer.

He was Ambassador to the United States, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, a non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, the Kingdoms of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, and Ireland and a Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States.  

Both sides of the political divide paid glowing tributes to the former Cabinet Minister.

Ambassador Johnson was awarded the Order of Jamaica for his service to the nation in 2016.
