No Truth to 25 Per Cent Salary Increase Proposal

The Jamaica Teachers Association President, Lasonja Harrison has also dismissed claims that a proposal has been finalized and sent to teachers that would see allowances being rolled into their basic salary. 

The rumoured proposal would see a beginning teacher receiving approximately two point three million dollars per year.

She also refutes suggestions that teachers who reached the top of the eleven (11)  points incremental scale would also get a maximum of three (3)million per year.

The circulated alleged proposal highlights that a twenty-five (25) percent tax would be taken from teachers’ basic salary which includes National Housing Trust and education tax. More details here:
