Opposition Calls For Tufton’s Resignation

Following the recent death of a dozen babies at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital the Opposition People’s National Party is calling on the Health Minister to resign.

The party convened a media briefing on Friday demanding that the Prime Minister responds to their request.

People’s National Party General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell is accusing Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton of mishandling the ministry since his appointment in 2016.

Campbell says the latest scandal involving the death of at least twelve’s babies at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, is another cause for concern.

The People’s National Party executive says the necessary resources should have been in place if there was a lack of nurses.

He says the minister must provide an answer to the Jamaican people insisting his recent response alluding to a shortage of nurses cannot be valid.

He is calling for the resignation of Minister Tufton.
