Less than an hour after government Senators failed to convince their Opposition counterparts to support another State of Emergency extension, Jamaica Labour Party leader and Prime Minister Andrew Holness echoed his disappointment with the Opposition. He says the government will remain relentless in fighting crime despite this setback.
And despite some local groups imploring the Opposition to support the measure in the Senate Friday, the measure only received the support of government Senators.
The Prime Minister lauded the security forces and the successes under the States of Emergency across several parishes though limited to only two weeks.
He is assured they will continue to use the technology and intelligence at their disposal to curb the rising levels of crime and violence especially as the festive season nears.
