Inner city lives matter too. This is the plea coming from residents of Cockburn Gardens as they demand justice for a man they say was killed by police.
The residents want an end to what they say is constant abuse from the members of the Jamaica constabulary force. Tensions remain high in Cockburn Gardens as residents continue to protest the killing of a Jermaine Ferguson, allegedly by police on Friday morning.
Armed with placards residents call for justice, echoing that Ferguson is innocent and is a victim of ongoing police brutality. Another resident says her 17 year old son was always shot at by the police after Ferguson was killed.
Demonstrators say the police are denying their act of brutality and they will continue protesting until the police accept accountability. This man says it not the first time the specific officer has killed a member of the community.
The enraged residents say their address is often times used against them, as they receive little to no respect from members of the security forces.
Member of Parliament, Angela Brown Burke says she stands with the residents in their demand for justice.
Inspectorate and Professional Responsibility Oversight Bureau is investigating the killing.
