Addressing the monthly meeting of the Westmoreland Municipal Corporation in Savanna-la-Mar on July 8, Medical Officer of Health for Westmoreland, Dr. Marcia Graham urged residents to remain vigilant in protecting themselves against the coronavirus (COVID-19), even those who are fully vaccinated.
Dr. Graham implored residents to stay at home if they have no reason to go on the road even though the curfew hours have been adjusted.
She also stated that COVID-19 tests can be accessed at the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital and the Savanna-la-Mar, Whitehouse, and Darliston Health Centres.
Dr. Graham said, the health department will be better able to do contact tracing and ensure that persons are quarantined and isolated, if tests are done as soon as persons suspect that they may have contracted the virus.
Dr. Graham implored persons who are due for their follow-up shot to make an appointment soon, as the health department is currently only administering second doses of the vaccine. She said that the department will resume administering first doses shortly.
