Energy conservation is the main focus according to Senator Matthew Samuda, who says consumers that are reliant on the National Water Commission will benefit. A new project will be launched soon geared towards bolstering Jamaica’s water system whilst conserving on energy.
Speaking in the Senate Friday, Senator Matthew Samuda updated the house on new developments regarding the National Water Commission. He notes the latest project is of national significance adding that energy is crucial to the water supply.
Since the start of the year, the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation has partnered on various initiatives to bolster the nation’s water systems.
Senator Samuda highlights additional methods to maneuver energy. He explains the National Water Commission will be saving millions through conservation.
However, Opposition Senator Peter Bunting raised concerns with regard to low energy costs impacting consumers.
He says this will mean greater expense for low-income earners.
