As the Covid-19 pandemic nears its end, the Senate is calling attention to another illness plaguing Jamaicans, crime and violence. This was highlighted in the Senate on Friday by Senator Saphire Longmore, during her contribution to the State of the Nation Debate.
In her contribution to the State of the Nation Debate, Senator Saphire Longmore highlighted the need for action to reduce the level of crime and violence that has plagued the nation in a major way.
Senator Longmore notes the ripple effect on the society. She says though mental health may deal with one’s emotions, spiritual health is a sense of an individual’s well-being.
With regard to crime and violence, Senator Longmore says there is a generational disparity.
The government senator believes more social interventions are needed.
