As Friday marks day one of the twelve days of mourning for the passing of Queen Elizabeth the second, the senate took the time to pay tribute to her majesty the longest ruler of the British Monarchy, who reigned for over 7 decades.
Two minutes of silence in the senate Friday, to honor her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the second who passed away on Thursday.
Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith shared memories of the 6th visit of her majesty to Jamaica in 2002, noting the significance to the Jamaican government. She describes her reign as the end of an era.
Opposition Senator Donna Scott-Mottley also shared her condolences.
Queen Elizabeth’s son Prince Charles heir to the throne has now become King Charles the third, who will now be the head of the monarch ruling over Jamaica. More details here:
