Following the recent conversation around brain drain, Opposition Senator Gabriela Morris is urging the government to assess and effectively utilize the Heart Trust NTA, to provide youth employment opportunities.
Opposition Senator and Spokesperson on Youth and Entertainment Gabriela Morris is criticizing the government for allegedly placing the Heart Trust NTA on the back burner amid a sizable unemployment rate among youth.
The Senator, in her presentation in the Upper House on Friday, says the youth are in dire need of opportunities. However, she notes the Holness administration isn’t utilizing the institution effectively.
Senator Morris also highlights the National Youth Service, which she says is underutilized. She says consequent to the limited opportunities available, young people continue to contribute to the increase in brain drain. She says although migration is a long-standing issue affecting Jamaica, the “time come” for a more comprehensive approach to combat the problem.
