Jamaica has received another shipment of Pfizer vaccines on Friday, October 29. According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness has reported that the just over 100,000 doses arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and is another delivery through the Ministry’s paid COVAX facility.
He says the Ministry intends to resume administration of the vaccine on November 1, adding that priority will be given to 85,000 persons awaiting their second dose, followed by students ages 12-18 years. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie recently had reiterated that, while those due their second dose of Pfizer vaccines have been concerned, where indicated, a second dose of the vaccine is essential for stronger and longer-lasting immunity.
As previously announced, the Ministry of Health & Wellness will prioritize the members of the public, who are due their second dose. Persons who who wish to make and appointment are asked to do so via the online portal at www.moh.gov.jm or call the Vaccination Centre at 888-ONE-LOVE (888-663-5683). Persons will be able to choose their preferred date, time and vaccination centre.
Members of the public should take a government-issued identification (school ID for students) or letter from a Justice of the Peace and their vaccination card to their appointments.
