Following several incidents of shooting in the Greenvale community in Manchester, stakeholders in the parish conducted a walk-through to foster a healthy relationship with residents.
The walkthrough was supported by members of the church, police force and political representatives, who championed the call for peace, and unity among the feuding communities.
Aspirations of peace and unity in the Greenvale community of Manchester are not going unheeded as the residents in the space welcomed the stakeholder’s promises.
Speaking at the community walk-through, Member of Parliament for Manchester North Western Mikael Phillips, says the move is in an attempt to quell violent outbreaks from returning to the space.
He aims to reassure residents that positive interactions with the police are welcomed, as they are all united in heightening the community’s spirit.
Leader of the Greenvale Seven Day Adventist Church Dexter Hugh Pusey says the church could not be absent for this momentous walk-through, since they are also focused on relieving tensions in the community.
Likewise, head of the Manchester police Superintendent Shane Mccalla says moving forward, the community can expect more engagement with the police, as they work together to heal the community.
Earlier in October Phillips called on security forces to target criminals, and implement a community lockdown following a string of murders in the space.
