Thanksgiving Service For Jodian Fearon Held

Family members of Jodian Fearon holding her daughter took one final look at the 23 year old who died after being denied access to health care. A high level probe has been ordered into Jodian’s death with a file almost ready for submission to the director of public prosecution. Relatives are anxious for justice to be served but for now, they say their goodbyes.

“We thank you for every chance spent with you as we hold each of those close to our hearts. We ask that you rest easy our bright star as among the clusters, you will always shine the brightest,” says a family member reading the Eulogy for Jodian Fearon.

Jodian Fearon’s story has triggered national outrage and an investigation into the quality of care being provided by health care institutions across the island.

“Everybody shares this great sense of loss and anger at the circumstances of her passing,” says Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, Olivia Grange. “But even in this moment, my brothers and sisters, Jodian is calling to us from the beyond to do better, to make her passing a lesson.”

Opposition Senator Donna Scott Mottley also attended the Thanksgiving service for Jodian, offering condolences on behalf of the Leader of the Opposition, Peter Phillips.

“When I see her image that beautiful young woman, when I talk to Leighton about who she was: ambitious, honest, demonstrating appreciation, showing love, I can’t see the purpose yet,” says Scott Mottley.

Jodian was a first-time mom, who was arrived at the Andrews Memorial hospital on April 23 and was being prepared for the delivery of her daughter. Reports are that she was suspected of having Covid-19 and transferred to the Spanish Town hospital in St Catherine after failed requests for transfers to two other hospitals. However, Jodian developed complications after delivering her daughter and was transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies where she passed.
