The Narcotics Police are reporting two multi-million dollar ganja seizures in Manchester. Between Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 24 the lawmen reportedly seized approximately under nine million dollars.
On Wednesday an anti-narcotics operation was conducted in New Forrest District, Manchester. This resulted in the seizure of 857 pounds of ganja worth an estimated J$3,428,000.
The Narcotics Police reportedly carried out the operation about 10:00 p.m. with the aid of the Manchester Operational Support Team. Two Nicaraguan men and a Jamaican man were arrested. Sheets with the personal information of persons residing overseas were also seized in the operation.
The identities of the men arrested are being withheld.
Additionally, on Thursday another operation was carried out. More than five million dollars worth of ganja was seized in Spalding, Manchester. The ganja was seized when the team intercepted a Nissan bus with one man on board. Twenty white knitted plastic bags were found, all of which contained compressed ganja, with an estimated street value of J$5.5 million.
The drugs and the bus were seized and the driver was taken into custody. His name is also being withheld pending an interview in the presence of his attorney.
