It is understood that no murder was recorded in Jamaica on Thursday, and while the jury is still out as to what may have influenced that welcomed news, it coincided on a day the country’s favourite team, Brazil,  played its first world cup match.

But why this overwhelming fascination in Jamaica with Brazil? The largest country in both South America and Latin America, the most successful national team in the FIFA World Cup, being crowned winner five times 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002.
