The legal fraternity has been abuzz with opinions, since Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs Marlene Malahoo Forte, put the Parliament on notice to expect amendments to the Bail Act that would prevent individuals on a murder charge from being granted bail. The relevant authorities are currently collating the data on just how many individuals out on bail, commit violent acts, while human rights advocates decry the proposed amendments as a retrograde step.
