As the back to school draws closer, anxiety continues to mount over the government’s intention to reopen face-to-face learning in schools in September. The learning losses suffered by students are significant, and their return to the classroom is seen as high priority.
However, following the recent spike in cases following the re-crafting of containment measures, the possible threat of the more virulent Delta variant, and incomplete vaccine takeup among teachers, questions are being asked if a return to face-to-face classes would further accelerate the spread of COVID-19.
