The Controversial Award of the Mobay Perimeter Road Project

With parliament passing an order to exempt the Montego Bay Perimeter Road Project from the rules of the public procurement act. Opposition Leader Mark Golding and others accused the government of acting against the interest of the country. And local contractors have voiced concerns over yet another multibillion-dollar project being awarded to China Harbor Engineering Company We ask if local contractors have been unfairly treated by not being allowed to tender a bid on the project?

Should tax payer’s money be used to enrich a foreign company ahead of a local one?

And is government unsure of the competence of local contractors to execute projects to international standards?

To discuss we have the Head of the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Public Relations Committee Senator Matthew Samuda and opposition spokesperson on housing transport and works Mikael Phillips.
