On the brink of emancipation day, Jamaica’s Supreme Court ruled that the constitutional rights of a young girl were not breached when she was barred from attending school because of her locks hairstyle.
With the written judgment now available we discuss the tangled issue of locks in school and are joined by Dr. Michael Barnett, Sociology Professor in critical race theory at UWI and author of “Rastafari in the new millennium”, Dr. Shani Roper Historian and curator of the UWI Museum and Rodje Malcolm Executive Director of Jamaicans for Justice.
