Jamaica and Manchester City striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been named among the 30 players shortlisted for the Women’s Ballon d’Or for the second consecutive season.
The Ballon d’Or, awarded by French magazine France Football, is considered the most prestigious individual award in world football, with the winner set to be announced on October 28 in Paris.
Despite not matching her tally of 31 goals in the 2022/23 season, Bunny Shaw enjoyed another stellar year in the Women’s Super League, where she managed to break individual, club, and league goal-scoring records.
This season, she scored a total of 21 goals in 18 appearances, becoming Manchester City’s record goal scorer in the process.
Shaw also claimed the individual awards of PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year.
Shaw is one of three players from Manchester City nominated for the award, with Japanese midfielder Yui Hasegawa and English forward Lauren Hemp being the others.
