Hammer Thrower Nyoka Clunis qualified for the Olympics through her performance and was officially selected by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA). However, despite this selection, her name was not submitted to World Athletics by the JAAA due to what they described as an “unfortunate omission.” This failure to submit her name meant that she could not be included in the list of athletes eligible to compete at the Games.
In an effort to rectify this situation, Clunis filed a last-minute appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). She sought a decision that would allow her inclusion in the hammer throw competition at the Olympic Games
