Senior members of the Jamaican management team have firmly denied sprinter Tyquendo Tracey’s allegations of threats to revoke his Budapest World Championships accreditation. Tracey claimed non-inclusion in the 4x100m relay pool was due to favoritism by Maurice Wilson, the technical leader of Jamaica’s world championships team.
Tracey asserted that after discussing the matter with reporters in Budapest, Security Liaison Officer Steve McGregor contacted him, allegedly threatening to withdraw his accreditation and expel him from the team village. However, McGregor and Dennis Gordon, the team’s media liaison officer, have both contradicted these claims. Gordon stated his unawareness of the social media post and any threats towards the athlete. Meanwhile, McGregor clarified that he never asked Tracey to leave the camp. He confirmed a report from Wilson about feeling disrespected by Tracey. McGregor shared that he had one conversation with Tracey after a meeting involving team management. The situation unfolds amid ongoing discussions in the world of athletics.
