Ready for Kick-Off

Kingston, Jamaica – With the Super Bowl LVII set to kick-off this Sunday (February 12) when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs and nine-time Grammy award winner Rihanna set to take centre stage during the halftime show, CVM Television, the official licensed broadcasters, said it is ready to provide uninterrupted and primetime broadcast of the highly anticipated showdown. This is the first time that the Super Bowl is being aired on free–to–air television in Jamaica.  

“Bringing Super Bowl LVII to free-to-air television in Jamaica is a huge deal and we are very excited for all Jamaicans to experience this event live with the rest of the world,” said Andrew Brown, Head of Marketing for VertiCast Media Group, CVM-TV’s parent company. “We know that Jamaica has a huge NFL (National Football League) fanbase and Sunday’s Super Bowl will be a huge event, especially for them.” 

This year’s Super Bowl is expected to be special for many reasons. It is only the fourth time in the last ten seasons that both number one seeds have made it to the ‘Big Game’ and the first time in history to feature two black quarterbacks when Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts face off.  

Rihanna’s highly anticipated Halftime Show is also set to leave tongues wagging as her fans have waited for several years to see her perform. Rihanna last performed publicly at the Grammy Awards in 2018. Country music star Chris Stapleton will sing the national anthem, while R&B legend Babyface will perform ‘America the Beautiful.’ Jamaican-born actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is also set to perform ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’.  

“Everything is in place to ensure that the experience is what fans have come to expect from the event. The lead-up to Super Bowl has been nail biting and like everyone else, we are excited to see what the Super Bowl will bring. Rihanna also has a huge fan base here in Jamaica so if there was ever a time to bring the Super Bowl to free-to-air tv, this is it,” Brown said.  

CVM TV will also be partnering with several sports bars and restaurants across Jamaica to host Super Bowl watch parties for fans looking to enjoy the match in a social and festive atmosphere. These include Janga’s Soundbar and Grill, Kingston Jerk, Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records as well as Pier 1 and Coral Cliff in Montego Bay. CVM Live: Evening Edition will be live at 5:00 PM to accommodate Super Bowl LVII which is set to begin at 6:30 PM.
