On Sunday, July 19, Jamaica recorded 16 new cases of COVID-19 and on Monday, July 20, 19 new cases. The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie on Tuesday revealed that more double-digit figures are expected in the next couple of days until the testing backlog is cleared.
Recently, the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. Christopher Tufton announced a backlog of ten thousand (10,000) Covid-19 samples to be tested, however, Dr. Bisasor-Mckenzie has disclosed that about five thousand (5000) of those have now been cleared.
