A petition for the Floyd Green’s reinstatement as Minister of Agriculture has garnered over 5 thousand votes in just over a day. The petition posted on Change.org demands Green be reinstated adding, suspension, charges, and an apology are good enough.
“He Is Too Good To Lose” was written boldly as the final words of an online petition geared towards having Floyd Green reinstated as Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
The petition titled ‘Floyd Green must be Reinstated, suspension, charges and an apology are good enough’ has been addressed to Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The petitioner describes Floyd Green as an honest and very hardworking Minister and the best Jamaica has had in years. The petitioner argues that even a suspension for a few weeks should be enough punishment.
Those who have signed the petition for Floyd Green’s reinstatement, says he has uplifted the agricultural sector and should be given another chance. Minutes to 6 pm on Thursday, September 16, the petition had gained over 5, 500 signatures; its goal being 7, 500.
Green is among a group of people in a viral video toasting to shouts of “no movement day” and “shower Labourite” at a popular hotel in Kingston. He resigned on Wednesday following a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Andrew Bellamy, Councillor for the Mona Division in KSAMC and former advisor in the Agriculture Ministry, Gabrielle Hylton were also a part of the festivity. They too have resigned from government boards.
Floyd’s apology has garnered over 1, 600 comments on Instagram, with almost all users lauding him for taking responsibility and assuring him that he has been forgiven.
Among them is Member of Parliament for East Portland, Ann-Marie Vaz, who unreservedly expresses her love for him. Political Commentator Kevin Obrien Chang says Green’s resignation will not be detrimental to his future.
Citizens have been questioning the future of the Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry since Green’s resignation.
